Ai Weiwei, born 18 May 1957 in Beijing, is a Chinese contemporary artist, active in sculpture, installation, architecture, curating, photography, film, and social, political and cultural criticism. As a political activist, he has been highly and openly critical of the Chinese Government's stance on democracy and human rights. He has investigated government corruption and cover-ups.
I cannot remember what kind of situation made me know Ai Weiwei. I just remember I brought his book called Time and Place from Amazon. The articles in that book all come from his blog about film, design, art and architecture. His ideas are philosophic, making me to re-think.

Actually, in my mind, Ai is a political activist more than a artist. When something happens in China, this brave people always stands out, show his opinions and criticize the government. Goverment is afraid of him! In this age, people should be brave and do not afraid of government, although government does dirty tricks. Due to these criticism, the society can make a progression.
